Why is AARP testing new membership options?

AARP is always looking for new ways to improve their membership offering and bring you more value. Your feedback is important to us and we will continue to improve our offering with your help. Please give us feedback at www.aarp.org/more.

What if I do not want to be part of the test?

There's no obligation to participate. Your new AARP membership card replaces your existing card and can be used to receive the same benefits you enjoy today. Please keep your card in your wallet and remember to use it to receive savings on your next visit to Walgreens. If you would like to opt-out of receiving mail about the new benefits program, please visit us at www.aarp.org/more or call customer service at 1-800-516-2251.

What do I have to do as part of the test?

It's easy, there's no obligation to participate. Your new AARP membership card replaces your existing card and can be used to receive the same benefits you enjoy today. It's easy and does not require a lot of time. Simply carry your new AARP hard card with you when you shop at Walgreens and visit www.aarp.org/more. That's it! We encourage you to give us feedback on the program by clicking on the "tell us what you think" tab located at the top of the online page. We will continue to add more benefits and offerings to the program as they become available.

How do I begin participating in the program?

There are many ways to participate in the new member benefits program. Simply take your new card to Walgreens and begin saving or visit us online at www.aarp.org/more. Every time you buy Walgreens branded products and present your AARP card you will receive a 5% bonus to be applied to your next purchase. Or visit us online and click on any of the links located on the page. The online site will be updated frequently with new articles, tools and offers, so we encourage you to visit often!

Can I make suggestions on how to improve the program or offerings?

Absolutely! We encourage you to tell us what you think. Simply go to www.aarp.org/more and click on the "tell us what you think" tab located at the top, right hand side of the page. Your suggestions will be incorporated into the program which will eventually benefit all of AARP's membership.

What happens if I have additional questions and I don't see the answer in the online FAQ's?

Simply send your question via email to AARP, by clicking on the contact AARP tab located at the top of the screen, or if you prefer call customer service at 1-800-516-2251. We will answer any questions you may have regarding AARP and its member benefits.

Who is eligible to receive the new AARP hard card? How was this determined?

You are one of a select group of members who were chosen to receive the new AARP hard card and the valuable features & benefits that come with the card. Members were chosen based on where they live. Over the next few months you will have the opportunity to tell us how you like using the card and the features. Your answers will help AARP make your membership more valuable to you and all the AARP members.

My neighbor didn't receive any information about the new AARP hard card benefits program. How can they receive the same benefits as me?

Participants were chosen from a select geography. If your neighbor falls within the selection geography they may be receiving their new AARP hard card shortly with information about the program. If the program is successful we hope to roll out the additional benefits to the entire membership base.

I have a friend that just moved down the street from me from out of state. Will they automatically be included in the AARP new benefits program?

If your neighbor falls within the select geography, and have notified AARP of their change of address, they will receive their new AARP hard card and invitation into the program within the next few weeks.

I moved out of the target area but still live close enough to shop at one of the participating retailers? Can I still participate or will I receive an "ineligible" notice?

You may continue to use your card and receive the benefits at participating Walgreens locations. Plus, you can visit www.aarp.org/more to enjoy all the latest information, articles and offers!

I moved from one of the target area cities to a non-target city. Will I receive an "ineligible" notice?

At this time we only have a few geographic markets that are participating in the program. You may continue to use your card and receive all the benefits provided to AARP members, however not all Walgreens locations are participating in the program. We hope to expand the program to all AARP members and locations shortly.

Are there plans to expand the AARP new benefits program?

Yes. AARP is continuing to expand and improve its member benefits and services. We plan on reviewing all participant feedback on the program to improve the offering and eventually expand the offering to all AARP members.

How were benefit providers selected to be part of the AARP new benefits program?

AARP members will continue to receive the same benefits they enjoy today, however AARP is testing the ability to swipe your new card for savings at select providers. Although Walgreens is the initial participant, we will continue to reach out to all of our providers, as well as, new providers to bring you the most value and savings.

Will I be notified of new benefit providers that become part of the AARP new benefits program?

Yes, AARP is continually working to expand the program and add more value for its members, including providing valuable information on our social mission. We will notify you of new providers' online, via email if available and through direct mail.

Is there a place where I can go to view all of my AARP new benefits and see the value I am receiving from AARP?

Yes! Log onto www.aarp.org/more and click on the statement tab located at the top of the page. You will have the ability to view all your program participation information. Please note there may be a slight delay from the time of your activity and the posting of that information to the benefits statement.

Will all my AARP Benefits appear on my statement?

Eventually AARP would like to show all the benefits you receive from your membership on the statement. In our initial test stage you will only see savings from Walgreens and Marketplace purchases as well as social welfare activities you complete on www.aarp.org/more. Over time the statement will be expanded to show additional member benefits.

What other new benefits do I receive by being a participant in the AARP new member benefits test?

I am glad you asked. As a participant, your membership card now gives you new valuable features and benefits to make your membership experience more rewarding. You have access to savings at Walgreens, a special website that brings you the most helpful articles, news and benefits that are relevant to you, a member benefits statement where you can track your activities and see the benefits you are receiving, and the ability to have your voice heard on how AARP can improve its member value and services. Plus, you still receive all the great member benefits that AARP brings to its members.

How do I join the AARP Member Advisory Community?

You may become a member by visiting the AARP.org/more website. Click on the AARP Member Advisory Community button in the upper right corner, and complete the short questionnaire. In this questionnaire, we will ask you to tell us about yourself (age, gender, interests, employment, etc), to help us make sure that you are participating in online surveys that fit your interests.

Does anyone have access to my personal information?

Protecting your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. Any information that you provide is kept strictly confidential. AARP aggregates your responses to the online surveys with those of other AARP Member Advisory Community members so your individual responses are not identifiable.

Online Log In & Account changes

What information do I need to log into my account?

All you need to log into your online account is your name (first and last), zip code and birth-date. Don't forget to give us your email address and opt-in to receive AARP member alerts.

Can I have multiple email addresses registered with AARP?

Unfortunately, we can only accept one email address at this time. If you change your email address all future emails will be sent the new address you have entered.

I am moving and need to change my address.

Please email or call our customer service. To contact customer service via email, log into www.aarp.org/more, click on the contact AARP link located at the top of the page and enter your new information or call 1-800-516-2251.

My name is spelled incorrectly on my new AARP hard card. How do I correct it?

We apologize for the mistake. Please call customer service at 1-800-516-2251 and give the correct spelling of your name. We will send you a new card immediately, please note it may take 2-4 weeks for your new card to arrive.

My online benefits statement is not capturing all of my activity. How can I resolve this?

During the test the member benefits statement will capture your participation in the program including your rewards at Walgreens, savings at AARP's online marketplace and your activity online at www.aarp.org/more. As the program expands we will continue to show more activities and value on your member benefits statement.

I checked my online benefits statement and I don't see my latest activities.

There may be a slight delay from the time of your purchase to when the site is updated with the purchase information. Please save your receipt and if it has been over two weeks, simply call AARP customer service at 1-800-516-2251 and a representative will update your account.

I don't have a computer; can you mail me my Member Benefits Statement?

Unfortunately, at this point in time we cannot mail a member benefits statement. This feature will be offered in the future as we continue to improve the program. If you have questions about your savings please call AARP customer service at 1-800-516-2251, or you may sign on to your account using any computer.

Membership Card

How many cards can I have per household?

The AARP membership comes with two cards per household. Either card can be used at Walgreens to receive your benefits. A household will need to enter the primary account holder's information to log into your member benefits statement online. Your statement will show all the transaction information for both cards.

How do I request a new membership card?

Please send us an email, by visiting www.aarp.org/more and clicking on the tab titled "contact AARP" or call customer service at 1-800-516-2251. We will send you two new membership cards.

My magnetic stripe does not work, what do I do?

Send us an email, by visiting www.aarp.org/more and clicking on the tab titled "contact AARP" or call customer service at 1-800-516-2251. We will send you a new card via mail. You may continue to use your existing card and shop at Walgreens. The cashier will simply enter your card number manually to apply your reward.

I lost my card; how do I receive another one?

Please call customer service at 1-800-516-2251 and give us your name and address. We will ship another card to you immediately. Please note it may take 2- 4 weeks for your new card to arrive.

How long does it take to receive a new membership card?

We will send you a new card immediately, but it may take up to 2-4 weeks for your new card to arrive in the mail.

Do I need to keep both my new plastic card and my old paper one?

No, your new AARP hard card takes the place of your previous paper card. Plus, you can swipe it at participating Walgreens locations for additional savings.

What's the difference between my new AARP plastic card and my old paper one?

Your new AARP hard card is more durable and takes the place of your previous card. Plus, your new card comes with a magnetic stripe located on the back of the card. As AARP continues to improve its benefits and offerings, you will be able to swipe this card at participating providers to receive better savings.

I received another hard plastic card but it doesn't have a magnetic stripe on the back. Along with the paper card, I now have 3 membership cards. Which one am I supposed to use?

We apologize for the confusion. Please use the AARP hard card with the magnetic stripe on the back of the card.

Which retailers are participating in the discounted pre-paid cards and what is the value of the discount per card?

AARP continues to help you save money on every day expenses, we are pleased to offer discounted cards at the following providers: Shell/ExxonMobil(2%);Marathon(3%),Bp/Amoco(2%),Sears(5%), Lands End(5%), Macy's(10%), Orvis(15%), Metromedia Restaurant Group-Ponderosa, Steak & Ale, Bonanza, Bennigan's, The Plano Tavern(10%), Sheetz Gasoline(3%), Speedway SuperAmerica(3%),Albertsons(Jewel Osco)(4%), Safeway(4%). Please note Grocery/Drug store cards will not be replaced if lost or stolen.

How do I order a pre-paid discount card?

It's easy. Simply go to www.aarp.org/more, click on the pre-paid discount card link under the Savings Spotlight and choose the card you would like to purchase. Your card will arrive via the US Postal Service in 10-14 days.

How long will it take for my card to arrive?

It will take up to 2 weeks for your card to arrive in the US Mail. If you do not receive your card in that time please email or call customer service.

I have some questions about the discount card policies, where do I go to find my answers?

Please go to www.aarp.org/more, click on the discount card link located under the Savings Spotlight and choose the card you would like to learn about. When you are ready to purchase, simply follow the instructions on the site.

What are the hours of customer service operation

We are open 9 AM to 5 PM Central, Monday through Friday.

My card never arrived in the mail, how do I get a replacement?

If it has been longer than two weeks, simply call 1-888-472-8747 and explain your situation. Please have your name, address and the card number used to purchase your card. Please note at this time we cannot replace lost or stolen Grocery/Drug Store cards.

My card arrived and it does not work, who do I call to resolve this issue?

Simply call the provider of your card. To see a list of numbers click here. Participating retailers include: Shell/ExxonMobil;Marathon,Bp/Amoco,Sears, Lands End, Macy's, Orvis, Metromedia Restaurant Group-Ponderosa, Steak & Ale, Bonanza, Bennigan's, The Plano Tavern, Sheetz Gasoline, Speedway SuperAmerica,Albertsons(Jewel Osco), Safeway.

I have lost my card, what do I do?

Depending on the individual policy of the card, it will be replaced by the retailer. Please note lost or stolen Grocery/Drug Store cards will not be replaced.

I used a partial amount of funds on my discount card and then lost it, can I get a replacement?

Please call the number of specific retailer of your card. You will need the receipt of sale and/or the gift card number. Click here to view the numbers of all the participating retailers. Depending on the individual policy of the card, it will be replaced by the retailer. Please note lost or stolen Grocery/Drug Store cards will not be replaced.

My card was stolen, what next?

How do I know which Walgreens stores will accept my new AARP membership card?

All Walgreens stores in the following locations will accept your new AARP Membership Card. Columbus,GA; Lansing, MI; Panama City, FL; Reno, NV; Rockford,IL; Wilmington, NC; Buffalo, NY and Youngstown, OH. For a detailed list of locations, click here. Simply visit your local Walgreens store and swipe your AARP membership card to begin saving.

I forgot my new AARP hard card when checking out at one of the participating providers. Can I simply just give them my name and zip code & they can locate me?

Unfortunately Walgreens cannot locate you in their system. Please hold onto your receipt and when you are home simply call customer service at 1-800-516-2251. They will ask for the RFN number located at the top of your receipt. This number will allow customer service to apply the correct reward to your account. It may take up to 48 hours for your account to be updated.

When will I receive my "Thank you gift" for providing my email address and signing up to receive member alerts?

Thank you gifts will be mailed within 4-6 weeks of receipt of your email address. If you have not received your gift by this time please contact customer service at 1-800-516-2251.
